Today I am happily remembering two sweet births: my son’s and my sister’s. Both are celebrating in other cities today, far from this city where they were born decades apart.
I called them both and we had good conversations. UPS took care of delivering some happiness in cardboard boxes.I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss putting candles on a cake today. At least I did still sing the birthday song to my 23-year-old son. He’s a good sport. My sis and I have plans to celebrate when she comes home next month, so all is well there, too.
Both spent the day working: my sister is a systems analyst still on call tonight; my son is student teaching at a high school, followed by attending a meet the teacher night. Busy days. However, both were making time for fun tonight, too. Of course! Oh, if we thought of every day as our birthday, we might be on the path to “living right.”
Birthdays always get me thinking. Life is so short and so precious. Spend it wisely. Cherish the moments. Laugh a lot.
