Sunday’s Song: Summer

Sunday summer day.
How I’ve always loved these days.
Today is no different:
morning mass with my family
sweeping the kitchen floor
filling the hummingbird feeder twice
(first batch spilled but Queen happily spent the next several minutes lapping the sugar water from the grass)
pizza lunch
vegetables roasting with cajun chicken waiting as I write this
some sewing time
some straightening and organizing
A good day.
It’s true cancer casts its presence on this house now, too. But the day to day ordinary things go on in the meantime.
Ordinary is what I count on.
My daughter brings me Starbucks.
I decide to make cucumber salad.
She brings me all the ingredients.
My son gasses up the truck, talks to his dad about oil amounts and things I know nothing about.
Normal. Ordinary. Summer Sunday.

I write. Make art. And in between, I do the best I can. ✌🏼️
